Young, dynamic and innovative.

The Greifswald Region.

Discover the typical Nordic charm of this region with over 40 kilometers of fine sandy beaches, the longest promenade in Europe, three stunning national parks, and numerous cultural highlights. Nestled between the popular holiday islands of Usedom and Rügen, Vorpommern-Greifswald is an ideal destination for nature lovers and those seeking relaxation.

In the northern part of the district lies the university and Hanseatic city of Greifswald – the economic and cultural hub of the region. Situated along the picturesque Ryck River, which flows into the Greifswald Bay at the fishing village of Wiek, Greifswald offers a unique atmosphere with its historic city center. Here, distances are short, but the space for innovative ideas in science and research is vast.

Greifswald is one of the fastest-growing cities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – thanks in no small part to the prestigious University of Greifswald. The city is known for its young, dynamic population, diverse job opportunities, and vibrant cultural scene. In their leisure time, locals are drawn to the water: sailing, surfing, rowing, and paddling are especially popular here. The location on the Ryck and Greifswald Bay offers ideal conditions for water sports enthusiasts.

Are you looking to settle in the Greifswald region and make it your home? We look forward to hearing from you.

Pure nature, surprisingly verastile.

Stettiner Haff Region.

The Stettiner Haff Region, located in the southern part of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, is strategically positioned between the metropolises of Berlin and Szczecin. Named after the Stettiner Haff, the second-largest lagoon of the Baltic Sea, this picturesque area is a popular destination for travelers, similar to the nearby Sun Island Usedom in the north.

The Stettiner Haff Region is characterized by diverse landscapes, including meadows, forests, rivers, lakes, and agricultural lands. Nestled within nature reserves and the Stettiner Haff Nature Park, the region offers ideal conditions for recreation and relaxation. A well-developed road and rail network with connections to major routes ensures excellent accessibility.

In addition to well-preserved village structures with regionally typical elements, the region also features several small, historic towns. The Stettiner Haff Region stands out for its peaceful, rural setting, offering attractive residential areas surrounded by nature. Moreover, the region provides a wide range of cultural, sports, and leisure activities for the whole family.

The Welcome Centers in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district are a structural development initiative designed to support talent retention and acquisition, managed by ABS Greifswald – Gemeinnützige Gesellschaft für Arbeitsförderung, Beschäftigung und Strukturentwicklung mbH.

Our goal is to help skilled workers and their families settle in and feel at home in their new location. Moving to a new place comes with many challenges: finding a new home, organizing the move, and navigating an unfamiliar environment. There are numerous tasks to handle, such as dealing with administrative procedures, finding a new dentist, or choosing a sports club or music school. When family members are involved, the challenges increase: finding a job for your partner, securing childcare spots, and more.

Our corporate partners are aware of these challenges and strive to make the transition for their employees as smooth as possible. They are committed to fostering a strong welcoming culture and actively promoting the work-life balance. We, as a project, aim to support and further develop this mindset.

The Welcome Centers offer personalized consultation services tailored to the specific needs of newcomers. At the same time, we assist local companies in their efforts to attract and retain employees.

The Welcome Centers Vorpommern-Greifswald serve as the central point of contact for newcomers from both Germany and abroad, as well as for regional businesses looking to recruit and retain new employees.

We would be happy to provide you with personalized advice!

Take advantage of our extensive regional knowledge and benefit from our free support as you start your new professional and personal life in your new location.
